Do the over the counter cat tape worm medications really work?
I took my cat to the vet about 3 weeks ago to get the de-worming for tape worms and she is still infected. She is on frontline for fleas and never goes outside. She now has signs of tapeworms again! I dont want to take her back to the vet if that obviously didnt help her. So should I buy the over the counter tape worm dewormers that places like 1-800 petmeds offers?
Cats don’t only get tapeworms from fleas…they can also get them from eating crickets and small rodents. So your cat can still contract tapeworms if on a flea preventative. If it’s been 3 weeks since treatment then it’s very possible that you are seeing tapeworm segments from a tapeworm infection that occured after your cat was treated.
Contact your vet and get another treatment from him.
