Skittles Dew

Do you think pregnancy cravings are real or not?
People keep asking me if I’m getting cravings and sharing stories about their crazy cravings when they were pregnant. I really haven’t noticed anything out of the ordinary. Before I was pregnant I could drink a gallon of Mountain Dew and eat a 1-pound bag of Skittles because I’m a huge sweet tooth, so I don’t think wanting ice cream or other sweets is anything out of the ordinary for me (except now I indulge a little more, he he). Sometimes I feel like I want a certain food for dinner, but who doesn’t crave certain foods for dinner? Do you think maybe cravings don’t really exist and are all in our heads, or don’t exist for everyone?
Great question. Cravings are both real and in your head. Its probably more rare that the are “real” because you get a craving for something that your body needs, and people in developed countries don’t “need” much outside of their normal diet. But this can apply to certain minerals or salts, which is why you hear about things like pickles sometimes.
The other side of this coin is that it is just imaginary to the extent that pregnant women know that they have an excuse to indulge themselves in whatever kind of food they want and nobody will give them grief about it because it is accepted by society that pregnant women crave certain things. And there isn’t anything wrong with that really.
I suspect that it is alot more of the imaginary part than the physical need part for most women in the western world.
